BUDDY SAFETY POLICY

Effective Date: 9/9/2026
Last Updated: 9/9/2026

Connect freely. Stay safe.

Buddy helps people discover connections, but no online platform can guarantee another person's identity, intentions or behavior.

Your safety is your responsibility, and Buddy provides tools to help.

Before You Meet

Take time to get to know someone.

Consider:

  • Messaging first
  • Checking whether their profile appears authentic
  • Avoiding sensitive personal information
  • Looking for suspicious behavior.

First Meetings

When meeting someone for the first time:

Choose a public place.

Tell someone you trust:

Arrange your own transportation where possible.

  • Who you're meeting
  • Where you're going
  • When you expect to return.

Location Safety

Buddy's Nearby functionality is designed to provide approximate proximity information.

Your exact location should not be publicly displayed to other users.

Do not share your home address or other sensitive location information unnecessarily.

Financial Safety

Never send money to someone simply because you met them through Buddy.

Be cautious if someone asks for:

  • Money
  • Gift cards
  • Cryptocurrency
  • Banking information
  • Investment funds
  • Emergency payments.

Sexual Safety

Every adult connection must be consensual.

A match does not equal consent.

Consent can be withdrawn at any time.

Never pressure another person into:

  • Sexual activity
  • Physical contact
  • Sharing intimate images
  • Meeting
  • Continuing communication.

Photos and Intimate Content

Think carefully before sending intimate content.

Once sent, you may lose control over how it is stored or shared.

Never threaten someone with their private images.

Non-consensual intimate content is prohibited.

Scam Awareness

Warning signs may include:

If something feels wrong:

Stop communicating. Block. Report.

  • Refusing video calls repeatedly
  • Stories that change
  • Requests for money
  • Investment opportunities
  • Pressure to move conversations immediately
  • Requests for private financial information
  • Claims of emergencies.

Block and Report

If you don't want to interact with someone:

Block them.

If you believe someone has violated Buddy's policies:

Report them.

Emergency Situations

Buddy is not an emergency service.

If you are in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services or a trusted person.

Do not rely on Buddy to provide emergency response.

Safety Enforcement

Buddy may investigate safety reports and take actions including:

  • Content removal
  • Account restrictions
  • Suspension
  • Permanent termination
  • Preservation of relevant information
  • Cooperation with lawful authorities where appropriate.
